David Janetzki will be the new Member for Toowoomba South following the July 16 by-election.

Mr Janetzki, who is a local family man, banking manager and grazier, secured 55.56 per cent of the two-party-preferred vote.

LNP President Gary Spence congratulated Mr Janetzki on his win.

“He has a long history of community involvement in many capacities and will be a terrific advocate for the people of Toowoomba South in the Queensland Parliament,” Mr Spence said.

Mr Janetzki said he was humbled to be elected as the new State Member and is committed to working hard for the people of Toowoomba South.

“It is a tremendous privilege and honour to represent this fantastic region and community,” Mr Janetzki said.

“I’m a fifth generation local having grown up on a farm and now work for a Toowoomba-based bank, as well as leasing a small grazing property with my wife so I know the issues and concerns of people who live here.

“People in regional Queensland are feeling especially let down by this incompetent Labor Government and I look forward to working with all my LNP colleagues to fight for their interests.

“I’m also looking forward to working with LNP leader, Tim Nicholls, and his Deputy Deb Frecklington, to ensure a prosperous future for this region,” Mr Janetzki said.

Mr Janetzki will take his seat as the new Member for Toowoomba South when State Parliament next sits.
