Sponsors needed for Mustangs Queensland Cup Revival

For too long Toowoomba has been deprived of a rugby league team competing in the Intrust Super Cup.

Since the Toowoomba Clydesdales left the competition in 2006 top flight footy has failed to return to the Garden City.

Now rebranded as the Western Mustangs, club Chairman Frank Martin needs your help.

“The main concern holding the Western Mustangs back is finances, we are in need of sponsors in order to make this dream a reality”, Mr Martin said.

“We have the largest player pool in the state, and we have a conditional letter of approval from the Queensland Rugby League subject to gaining the required amount of sponsorship”, he said.

“It is now a matter of businesses helping us invest in the future of our game in the region”, he said.

Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki would love to see a packed Athletic Oval cheering on the Mustangs in the Q-Cup.

“My father and I still talk about the glory days of the Toowoomba Clydesdales – especially the win over Great Britain in 1979.  We have such a proud rugby league history in our region and the Western Mustangs are our chance to fly that representative flag again”, Mr Janetzki said.

“This is the perfect time for our region to be a part of something special”, he said.

The Mustangs Board will meet again on the 27th of July to discuss the club’s plans for 2021.
