Trio recognised for decades of service as JPs

Retired magistrate Greg McIntyre, his wife Leanne and mortgage broker Chris Kelso have been recognised for their services as Justices of the Peace.

Mr McIntyre has completed 44 years’ service, Mrs McIntyre has 31 years’ service and Mr Kelso has been recognised for his 33 years’ service.

Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki MP hosted a morning tea to thank the JPs and presented them with their commemorative service certificates.

“It is a long-standing achievement to serve the community as a JP for decades so I congratulate and thank these volunteers for their invaluable time and commitment to this important role," Mr Janetzki said.

Mr McIntyre and his wife became JPs out of necessity while working in various courthouses in Queensland.

Mr McIntyre left Toowoomba when he was 16 and was happy to move back home to the Garden City in 2003.

“I’ve always wanted to come back, I was born and bred here,” Mr McIntyre said.

Mr Kelso was also born in Toowoomba and happily returned here in 2001.

Mr Kelso became a JP while working for Westpac for 22 years where he was required to constantly move all over Queensland.

He is enjoying life in the Garden City where he has been a mortgage broker for 17 years.
